There are various buzzwords, which people love to use in the IT industry. Such buzzwords form part of the jargon of corporate industry. With the advancement in technology, buzzwords are being used more and more by the business leaders and employees to communicate. SaaS is one of the most commonly used buzzword that speaks a lot about itself. It stands for Software as a Service where the software platform is hosted and managed by the vendor. The platform allows the users to connect to the application, irrespective of their location from their browser. Over the years, the use of SaaS has increased the need for SaaS product testing.

SaaS product testing involves different types of tests as and when required. Some of the tests that are frequently run are discussed below.

Functional

This incorporates various functional scenarios to ensure that all the functionality works as expected.  In order to test the functionality, the following techniques are used:

  • Manual test scripts
  • Exploratory charters
  • Checklists
  • End-to-end scenarios, and more

In addition to the above approach, you can use selenium to create an automated regression testing suite.

Multi-Platform

It involves a combination of physical and virtual machines with multiple browsers like Windows, Linux, and Mac. In addition, various browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc. are also used to ensure multiple browser compatibility.

Stress and Load

Load and Stress testing ensures a large number of users can use the application at a time, without making the application respond slowly.

Remote Access and Usage

This ensures that the users from different locations can access the application with good response time. This can be done using various emulators. However, nothing can emulate reality. You can take help from local collaborators to perform tests and report results from their locations.

 Security

Here, cross-site scripting is done and other security loopholes are blocked to ensure nothing harms your system.

Live Updates and Deployments

This is something that is rarely given a thought. Since, this is a part of overall user experience, it must be tested constantly.

Rollback and Recovery from Disaster

It involves two scenarios.

  • Systems that are down and need to be up instantly
  • Rollback to the last good version, including data
Standardization

You must support the use of International characters as the platform is used by people from across the globe.
